Here is the story of her farm from ACODIHUE!
Doña Zoila Camposeco Gómez, A Self-Made Coffee Producer
In the village of El Pajal, San Antonio Huista, Huehuetenango, Guatemala, lies Zoila: she is a coffee producer who has dedicated her life to working the land and growing her plot without help. Single and childless, she has found her passion and purpose in coffee production.
Childhood and Heritage*
Zolila grew up in a family of coffee producers, where she learned the art of cultivation and harvesting from a young age. However, unlike her siblings, Zoila was never attracted to the idea of getting married and having children. Instead, she focused on learning everything she could about coffee production and developing her skills as a producer.
Struggle and Overcoming*
As Zoila grew up, she realized that coffee production was a constant challenge.
Weather conditions, pests, and diseases were just some of the obstacles she had to overcome. For a long time, Zoila and her family sold coffee locally without fair compensation for their product. However, Zoila did not give up. She worked hard to improve the quality of her coffee and find markets in ACODIHUE to sell her product.
Currently, Zoila takes care of her potatoes and her family's plots. She has participated in ACODIHUE groups, where she has learned to produce organic coffee and improve her finances, autonomy, and self-sufficiency. Zoila has dedicated her life to serving God in the Catholic Church. As a leader, she has promoted the incorporation of young men and women to serve God.
