Frequently asked questions

Is your coffee organic?

A: Yes! Our Guatemalan coffees are certified organic.

Realistically, almost all high-grade specialty coffee is grown using organic, natural farming practices. However, many smallholder family farms simply cannot afford the steep fees associated with formal organic certification.

That is why we rely on Direct Trade. By building direct, transparent relationships with our farmers, importers, and consumers, we go a step beyond standard Fair Trade. We inspect how our coffee is grown and processed firsthand, ensuring our beans are free from pesticide residue, mold, mycotoxins, and other contaminants.

How coffee is roasted matters just as much as how it’s grown. We meticulously profile our roasts to hit the perfect sweet spot. We don't believe in burning our coffee either, so we stop well before the coffee could char to prevent unwanted carcinogens such as PAHs.

Do you have a subscription service?

A: Yes! You can set up recurring deliveries directly through our online store so you never run out of freshly roasted beans. Choose your favorite roast, your preferred delivery frequency, and we'll ship it straight to your door freshly roasted.

What makes coffee from a small roaster better than buying from a store?

It comes down to two main factors: freshness and care.

Grocery store coffee often sits on shelves or in warehouses for months, losing its delicate flavor compounds long before it reaches your cup. As a small-batch roaster, we roast in precise, small quantities to ensure peak flavor expression. Small-batch roasting also allows us to highlight the unique origin characteristics of every lot, bringing out vibrant notes that high-volume commercial roasters simply burn away.

Where can I try Arcadia coffee?

You have a few options! If you are in the Dalton area, you can try Arcadia on drip at Common Ground Coffee Shop, Oakwood Cafe, Roadside Cafe, or any other location listed below. If you want to try Arcadia espresso, that can be found exclusively at Common Ground. Our bags are sold at various retail locations in the Dalton area, and we ship anywhere in the US!

What grind size should I order?

For the freshest, most flavorful cup, we always recommend buying Whole Bean and grinding right before brewing. However, if you'd like us to pre-grind your order, here is a quick guide to help you choose:

  • Whole Bean: Best for longevity and custom grinding at home.
  • Coarse: French Press, Cold Brew.
  • Medium: Drip Coffee Makers, Pour Over (Chemex, V60), AeroPress.
  • Fine: Espresso, Moka Pot, Keurig Reusable Pods.
Where does your name come from?

Not to be confused with Acadia (which happens a lot), Arcadia has a one primary origin. When Win was in college, the last house he lived in was 214 Arcadia St. When Win graduated and moved out, Asher took his place and lived at 214 Arcadia St. for the next four years. It was during those four years that he built the first roaster, hand turned the first batches, and ultimately launched Arcadia Coffee. In addition, the word Arcadia means, "an idealized, picturesque, and peaceful place of rustic simplicity, harmony with nature, and innocent quiet pleasure." We hope that drinking our coffee makes you feel connected to this vision of creation.

Our story

After a year in El Salvador learning about coffee roasting, Arcadia Coffee Roasters was dreamed up while Asher was attending the University of North Georgia living in a small house on Arcadia Street.

After converting a propane grill to a coffee roaster, the first Arcadia coffee beans were roasted. Win joined as the business manager shortly after and we formally incorporated in 2017. Since then we have refined our roasting, expanded our offerings, and increased our generosity towards the hard working farmers that grow our coffee.

Now located in Dalton, GA, our mission is to continually improve our roasting, sourcing, and distribution as a way to share great coffee with as many as possible and give farmers a higher standard of living.

Coffee with a purpose

Every cup tells a story of direct connection, community, and continuous impact.

Direct Trade Impact: By sourcing directly from farmers, we cut out the middleman. Your coffee touches as few hands as possible, ensuring fair pay and top-quality sourcing.

Roots in El Pajal: We partner with 410 Bridge to fund holistic community development in El Pajal, Guatemala. From hands-on service trips to ongoing support, our commitment to this community goes far beyond the bean.

Generosity in Every Batch: A portion of every sale flows right back into the local community where our coffee is grown. The more coffee we share, the more lives we empower.

At its heart, coffee is about bringing people together—from the fields of Guatemala to your morning cup.
